Building My Webcomic Email List (While Running Everything Else)
Building My Webcomic Email List (While Running Everything Else)
I tend to juggle a dozen projects at once, from music and podcasts to running an online vintage store.
This week, I try to focus on a single goal, launching my webcomic email list so I can still do the rest of my creative project tasks I need to do.
Here is the workflow I implemented:
- The Sign Up Page: I created a free mini-comic ebook to encourage sign-ups.
- The Automation: I linked my comic posts to an RSS-based email list. Now, subscribers automatically receive a new comic whenever I post to my site.
- Build My List: I added a call-out box directly on my comic posts.
- Distribution: Add the links to my comic posts across platforms like Mastodon, Instagram, and PixelFed, I’m testing new CTAs to see what drives traffic to my landing page.
- The Signup Plan: Readers go to my landing page, download the comic via Kofi, enter their email, and are added to the list.
Why This Matters
I’ve decided to stop re-building my other webcomic books for now. While I’ve already completed my “Year One” comic, my main priority is building an audience. This email list is my foundation for my future webcomic book launches.
And you can get my new free mini-comic here!

I planned a house show, a vintage hunt, and a diary comic about the whole trip. It all went wrong. Free comic, no catch.
