I got to talk about creating music at a tech summit in Prague

Great things can happen when you make connections Talking at the Ubuntu Summit in Prague (📷 photo by Stanislav Milata )

Lotsa liquids.

While driving, my car was comically low to the ground.

Day 10: Gas stop.

Since then the car runs just fine. So I have no idea why it broke down in Chicago.

Day 10: Quarter tank.

I wanted to get as close to home as I could in case I needed it towed.

Day 10: Ticket.

I wore a different jacket than the one I had yesterday.

Two websites I use to make my art business blogs that are free, easy and quick

Here is a drawing I did of some monsters making a website 🙂 Have you been thinking about making a website for what you do? Looking to make a website that is something beyond just building a cart? Something that shows what you do artistically to talk about your process and just let people more about you as a creator. Then I hope you find this useful. Here's a way to set up a website, that is easy to use, free , and should only take about 10 minutes to get it up and running.

Day 10: Drop-off.

There wasn't a drop-off slot for the keys I could use either so I had to wait.

Day 10: Rental.

I called 3 different car rental places and none of them had anything available.

Day 10: Car started.

I had left my keys there for the tow truck. The parking garage people felt bad and tried starting it again which worked.

Day 9: Car trouble.

By this point, I was more concerned about getting home than figuring out what to do with my car.

Ryan Roberts: Bonebag comics - Tom Ray's Art Podcast

Listen to the podcast on Apple Podcasts | Google Podcasts | Spotify | RSS On this episode of the podcast, I meet webcomic artist Ryan Roberts . Ryan lives in Dallas, Texas, and has a comic series called Bonebag Comics . He created Bonebag Comics back in early 2012. He has spent much of his time honing his skills as a graphic artist and as an Illustrator.  We talk about making comics and promoting your own stuff and I even have a small rant during the conversation about the never-ending hashtag bots on Instagram. Day 9: Detained.

I just wanted to finally get out of that airport.

Day 9: O'Hare airport customs.

For some reason, an officer told me to follow him.

Day 9 Prague: Traveling home.

Watching three movies helped.

Day 8 Prague: Airport hotel.

I'm sure the person behind the counter dreaded each time we came out of the elevator.

Day 8 Prague: Crawling babies.

I am not looking forward to getting to the airport at 4:30 in the morning. The crawling babies were much bigger than I expected.

Eylul Dogruel: Mixed media artist - Tom Ray's Art Podcast

Listen to the podcast on Apple Podcasts | Google Podcasts | Spotify | RSS On this episode of the podcast, I talk with Eylul Dogruel an artist from Istanbul, Turkey .  I went to Prague to speak at the Ubuntu Summit to talk about being an open-source musician and Eylul was also there to do a talk about creating art. We spoke a few times but we never really had any time to really sit down and talk for an extended period of time. So I asked Eylul to come on the podcast and talk! Eylul's work focuses on the interaction between materials and their style elements and uses a wide variety of materials including code, photography, video, animation, pen and paper, and acrylic and canvas. Day 7 Prague: Astronomical clock.

We'll need to stop back at the antique shop the next day which isn't a bad thing.

Day 7 Prague: Bric a Brac.

His name is Milosh. His shop was really cool. Ended up buying a bunch of cool things there. Here is Milosh showing us one of his antique oddities. My drawing in the comic doesn't capture just how much unique stuff the place had.

Day 6 Prague: Prague Castle.

I've told this story to several people and not only did none of them know who Sadie Sink was they told me they don't watch Stranger Things?

Day 6 Prague: Airbnb.

The downtown area was very different than where we stayed during the summit. Also, we learned fewer people also spoke English in this area.

Day 5 Prague: Performance.

We missed half the sites because we were playing but I got to see them on the way back.

Hilary Falk: Fovea Works Bone Jewelry - Tom Ray's Art Podcast

Listen to the podcast on Apple Podcasts | Google Podcasts | Spotify | RSS On this episode of the podcast, I meet Hilary Falk a creator here in Madison. Hilary runs Fovea Works and makes natural science bone jewelry. So of course I needed to know how does someone get started working with bones to make things and I find that it all started from an unlikely origin... Cosplay costumes. Day 5 Prague: Power outage.

Big ups to the Nomads of Prague for having the gear to help! Here is a pic of us actually trying to figure out the problem on the boat.

Day 5 Prague: Boat.

We were supposed to go on in a few hours and the sound company wasn't there yet.
